September of '08, we went to parts of France and Italy.  Our planning began with making a reservation for a River Cruise (Avalon Waterways) that would take us through Burgundy & Provence.

We wanted to spend some time in Italy, Tuscany and the Cinque Terre in particular, as well as Nice where the Avalon Cruise tour began and Paris where the Cruise tour ended. We had zeroed in accommodations in Italy, but coordinating it all seemed like a daunting task: air, car, transfers, convenient hotels, etc.

I found Danielle Santal recommended on Rick Steve's Graffiti Wall (contains mountains of info for the traveler) so I contacted her to pull our nearly month long trip together.

She is amazing! She is very knowledgeable and one can tell that she knows first hand what she recommends.  She has traveled extensively and as a native of France and having lived in Paris, who better to work with? We were extremely pleased. Working with her is a real treat!!  Detailed and prompt with replies our trip went without a hitch.

Danielle, puts her heart and soul into her work to make your travel experience very special! You can just relax and enjoy your trip when you have Danielle put it all together.

"Our director Karl Glock was wonderful, he was very knowledgeable and informative , very patient & helpful with any problem or questions our group had. We enjoyed listening and learning about Italian history, and it was a pleasure to hear him speak Italian and English. On any future Globus trip, it would be great to have Karl as our director. Our bus driver Guglielmo Monfregola was a careful driver, and we felt safe on all our trips.

Our thanks also go to our travel agent Danielle Santal who was very helpful and efficient at putting this trip together. This was a memorable trip thanks to you and all the memorable people on our tour. We all had fun and many laughs."

"If you like to be your own tour guide, but need some help in planning a trip, Danielle Santal should be your only choice.  She works with you to make sure that your planned trip fulfills your expectations.  Last year when we were looking for someone to help us with a trip to France we found Danielle.  What a fabulous discovery!  Her extensive knowledge of France made our trip special.  She found us wonderful affordable hotels, many of which she had stayed at.  Her restaurant choices were equally fabulous.  This year, when we were planning a trip to Italy, we turned to Danielle.  What a collaboration!  Any travel agent can find a hotel in Rome, but it takes someone willing to do a little extra work to find you one in Viterbo and it was a 4-star one at that.  She was so good, she even got us tickets to see Da Vinci's Last Supper after we had been told it was impossible.  Lee."

"The river Danube runs through the heart of historic Bratislava. The river that served capitalists and conquerors alike dominates the old town serving as both a romantic backdrop and essential feature. If you prefer the company of rivers and long to gaze down from the storied heights of your private room over swift waters, then book yourself into the Hotel Devin or have a travel professional do it for you. I found The Hotel Devin through a family friend and travel agent Danielle Santal (info@go-journeys.com). Danielle has consistently demonstrated an uncanny ability to find the best of Europe and I was fortunate to have her as my long distance guide. The Hotel Devin sits on the banks of the Danube and is backed up to the historic Old Town on the grand square which ends at the National Opera house. From the front door it is a five minute walk to the best sights in Old Town."

"The trip was wonderful.  The boat was better than I expected – comfortable cabin, excellent food and service – the only disappointment was that the weather was so rough we missed Santorini.  I heartily recommend the Diogenis V.  The hotel in Athens was fine too and Delta to and from Ireland is a bargain right now.  Thank you for your excellent arrangements."

"We have used Danielle for European travel for nearly 7 years now and never once been disappointed.  She finds special places to stay, to visit and to eat that are not on the traditional tourist routes and we just love that.  We do not travel to see other Americans but rather the lifestyle of the country we visit. She manages to find just the right places with a quiet ambiance and where we meet interesting people from around the world.  Also, Danielle listens which is unique in the travel business.  She tries to plan the trip we want, not the packages other agents often try to push on you.  We have had great experiences both as a couple and when we traveled with our family.  Finally and this is not unimportant, she plans a trip that we can enjoy without breaking the bank. I would strongly recommend Danielle to anyone who wants a very special trip."

"Collaborating on a trip with Danielle is a treat from the planning stages to the completion of the holiday--you feel she is along with you. Danielle brings her personal experience of extensive travel to the table. She has amassed numerous contacts abroad as well as on other continents--she has first hand experience with almost all of her recommendations. She has an infinite amount of patience--we tend to plan our holidays last minute and on the run. Therefore, we are discovering "where" it is we are going as we do the planning. Consequently, the need for the travel agent to be flexible and unnerved by change is essential. Danielle fits the bill!! Brava! Anna."

"Recently my husband and I returned from two weeks in France, one in Paris and one in Provence. Danielle helped us plan our trip and she made all the reservations, from the plane tickets (on an airline new to us that was excellent and cheap!) and then a van to our daughter's apartment in Paris, to renting a car and a lovely house in Provence. Also train tickets back to Paris. And plane and train tickets for my son and his friend who joined us later into the trip. Danielle and I were in close contact through phone calls and e-mail throughout the planning. She did a lot of research for the trip and always contacted me right away with the information: a good flight, several prospective houses, etc. We so appreciated her attention to detail in these and other matters, such as travel insurance for flight cancellations. Besides the obvious items, such as tickets, she provided us with material on sites to see and things to do in Paris and along our drive to Provence. This trip was perfect in all aspects. She was wonderful to work with and now I am planning a trip to Africa with her!"

From Dave Johnson, Branford CT and Cindy Morrill, New Haven Ct

"Danielle: the trips you arranged for us, including Italy, and Spain and the upcoming trip to Paris have been beautifully planned. Whatever our destination, your knowledge of hotels, their location to what we wanted to see, as well as their service, made the difference; you have expertise in all aspects of travel, and provided the best quality to suit our budget, air fares, hotels, or transportation needs when we reached our destination. As a world traveler yourself, you guided us with your first hand knowledge. We will highly recommend you and your travel planning services to our friends. Cindy and Dave."

From Irving Jacks, New York City

"The cave paintings at Altamira were awe-inspiring – we both had tears in our eyes; you should recommend this to all your clients; Barcelona – the Gaudi Park, the Miró Museum – was great fun; Santander, including the Hotel Santamar, was charming, especially the beach at night. All in all, despite the abridgment, I am totally glad we went, and am grateful to you for having helped to make it possible. Ciao, hasta la vista proxima. Irving."

From Sophie Cook, Washington, DC

"Danielle: it's a pleasure to finally able to thank you for the excellent arrangements you made for us in Spain. Our hotel in Barcelona was very well run and right across from the subway stop, which enabled us to go anywhere in the city. It was probably quieter than the hotels in the center, but I would say that the neighborhood was a little dull and the rooms stuffy, although perfectly comfortable. The car was excellent and cheap.  We loved Santander and our hotel was wonderful: delicious food, easy walk to the beach, nice people. Our excursion to the Cuevas de Altamira was of course the highlight of the trip and we were not disappointed.  What an amazing display of early man's ability to create beautiful and living images!  I would like to add that not only were your arrangements of great help in making a short trip enjoyable and relaxed, but in this case the emergency I feared did materialize and the fact that you could be reached in time was much appreciated by my family and me. Many thanks. A bientôt. Sophie."

From Carol Ward, Philadelphia PA

"I did really enjoy my Alaskan vacation greatly. My roommate was an ideal choice. The room was big enough for us on the ship. I loved the reserved table where we ate most of our meals -- the view was great... Everything was great. Certainly I appreciated everything you did. Maybe you will be dealing with Spain soon. Best regards, Carol."
